Asparagus officinalis 'Mary Washington' ~ Mary Washington Asparagus
This product is only available in store. Visit our Nursery for more information.
Mary Washington Asparagus is a heirloom variety of the perennial vegetable that produces sweet and nutty edible shoots or spears in late spring. The feathery fine needle-like foliage resembling ferns goes dormant after the first frost. Female plants can produce red berries in late summer that might self seed. Grows best in full sun and rich, evenly moist well-drained soils. The first crop may take 2-3 years when grown from roots. Mary Washington is a female selection that produces large stalks earlier, and is rust resistant.
