Purple Prince Crabapple is a flowering deciduous tree with a dense broad spreading crown. The simple dark green leaves emerge red-purple and turn yellow in fall. Its profuse deep rose buds open to rose pink flowers in mid spring, give way to crabapples that ripen to dark red in fall that persist into winter. Best flowering in full sun with moist well-drained soil. Purple Prince has good disease resistance.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: High Maintenance. Pruning should be done in late winter to early spring. Susceptible to a number of potential problems, including apple scab, powdery mildew, and fire blight.
