Dakota Burgundy Beardtongue is a compact native herbaceous perennial with dramatic purple-black lance-shaped foliage and sturdy upright matching stems. Airy panicles of violet buds open to small tubular lavender flowers with flaring ends that bloom from mid spring into summer. Grows best in partial sun and dry to medium well-drained soil. Drought and heat tolerant.
