Purple Robe Locust is a thornless cultivar of a flowering deciduous tree with a suckering upright mounding habit. Its bronze green pinnate compound foliage emerges an interesting bronze-red and has turns an undistinguished
yellow in fall. Fragrant violet wisteria-like clusters bloom from mid to late spring. Grows best with full sun and moist loamy well drained soils. Drought tolerant once established, and is nitrogen fixing.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Medium maintenance. Do not prune in spring. It is susceptible to locust borer, which is often fatal, and locust leaf miner. Potential diseases include canker, powdery mildew, leaf spots, wood rots and verticillium wilt. Potential pests include caterpillars, weevils, scale and whiteflies. Promptly remove root suckers unless naturalization is wanted.
